I have heard of it forever, and from what I hear it tastes ...well tastes like root beer, and not really boozy. I have never seen it in the stores though... I just been drinking lots of regular old root beer lately and I remembered one of my mates when I was a teen...his day used to brew his own beer, and he used his same machine to brew the kids some rootbeer...so I got to thinking...if you can home brewer the stuff in a beer maker...I wonder if you could do something to make it hard... and I googled it lol...to see if anyone was actually marketing it. There was a home made root beer stand out in Ohio in the sticks and one of the people there told me, you could make it a hard drink, but not the way they made it...or some such thing.
