Artist's Comments

This is my first work using 3DS Max, and now that I'm starting to get the hang of it I love it. I used some stock from sxc.hu, and touched it up with Photoshop...

wow, that is such a kick ass idea. most people i know try something simple on their first max render. if this is ur first attempt, i can't wait to see what else u've got in store for us :D +fav

Very nice work there. The image in the doorway really feels like it has depth, and you managed to get a fair amount of complexity out of simple geometric objects. I have been using Blender for 3D, but I may have to look into Max sometime. Great first render!

Suggestion: The little white lines around the pentagon platform would be neat as light sources, allowing for some further shadowing and shading of the surrounding enviroment.

Thanks a lot... I actually was originally trying to make those white lines light sources, but I couldn't figure out how, so I said screw it. :)

a tip. your reflections look static (constant value). you should use fresnel (realistic), or a falloff map in the reflection slot. to get fresnel, you could click the check box next to the reflection slot until it says fresnel. also, you could get it in the falloff map from the top dropdown (i forget what it's called).

nice.
